The bar chart displays the percentage of people in the UK who consumed five portions of fruit and vegetables daily from 2001 and 2008. The chart breaks down the data by gender and age group specifically men, women, and children. 

Overall, women consistently consumed more fruit and vegetables than men and children throughout the period. The percentage for each group generally rose over time, reaching a peak in 2006 and 2007, before slightly decline in 2008. 

In 2001, only about 17% of men, 22% of women, and 12% of children consumed the recommended portions. Over the next few years, the figures for all three groups increased. By 2006, women had the highest consumption rate at around 32%, while men and children reached about 27% and 20%, respectively. This year represented the peak for both women and men. 

In 2007, the figures remained high, with women still leading at 30%, men at about 27%, and children at approximately 23%. However, there was a slight decrease across all groups, with women at around 28%, men at 26%, and children at 22%.

In summary, fruit and vegetable consumption saw an upward trend from 2001 to 2007, with women consistently eating more than men and children, followed by a minor decline in 2008.
